Our 1955 Buick Special Convertible

We purchased this beauty in June, 2001.  We hope to improve the looks, especially under the hood and upgrade the trunk area over some period of time.  New upholstery is also in our plans.  First things first.  Mechanical reliability is our first objective as we want to use the car from time to time and not just look at it.  Here are some photos.  We will post new ones as things get upgraded.

She is ready to leave the previous owners

Our first look at the car

Lets get some gas in this baby and take it home.

Ready to go now

She made the 40 mile trip home, no problem.

Engine before picture.

We hope the after pictures will be a lot better.

Now we know why the radiator and fan shroud looked so bad.  It had a leak.  The shroud and radiator are now cleaned.

The radiator needed a new core.  Looks and runs much better now.

The rocker arm covers still need paint, but it looks a lot better now.

Compare this with the two shots above.  Still more work to do, but it is coming along.

Another Improvement but still more to do.

Everything except the top and paint are original.  The paint is the original color.

Came complete with fuzzy dice.

Trunk After!

The door panels are original and in pretty good shape.

New Carpet and Upolstery

She gets attention wherever she goes.
